I am an assistant professor in the Department of Management Science & Engineering with cross-appointment at the Cheriton School of Computer Science of the University of Waterloo. I am also a Vector Institute Faculty Affiliate and a member of Centre for Computational Mathematics, Waterloo.AI, and WISA at UWaterloo. Before joining UWaterloo, I was an associate research scholar at Princeton University working with Prof. Warren Powell and Prof. Mengdi Wang. I received my PhD in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at the University of Florida under the supervision of Prof. George Lan. I also received my B.Sc. from the ISE Department of Sharif University of Technology.
My research is mainly focused on decision making under uncertainty motivated by data science applications. In particular, I work on a) reinforcement learning and stochastic optimization, b) developing reduced- and higher-order algorithms for machine learning and large scale optimization problems, and c) simulation-based optimization.
A list of selected papers and courses I have taught are available under Publications and Teaching tabs. You can also see my Google scholar page for a full list of publications.
